Welcome, traveller! Once upon a time, during the mighty Venetian rule, this used to be the Eastern town gate and part of a massive wall which surrounded the town. Within the walls you can still see the remnants of a cast iron town gate, which used to be locked with the last rays of sun. Above the gate, the great lion of Venice guarded over the inhabitants of Omiš for hundreds of years, but didn’t survive the 20th century as it was smashed to pieces and forever lost in the aftermath of World War II …
